Coating Applicator Examiner Qualification

As an examiner you have the opportunity to apply your experience to ensure that candidates who become certified possess the requisite skills to perform coating work that protects assets from corrosion and helps to ensure a successful career for the certification holder.

Who should pursue and apply?

Seasoned coatings professionals with experience in both the application and inspection of industrial coatings are excellent candidates for the coating applicator examiner qualification. This qualification provides the unique opportunity to make sure coating applicator candidates are equipped to be successful in the field and use proper techniques and safety procedures while extending the life of assets.

How to achieve the Coating Applicator Examiner Qualification

  1. Work experience and education requirements

    5 years of work experience as a coating applicator

  2. Certification and application requirements

    An active Basic Coatings Inspector Certification and an active Coating Applicator Certification

      Successful completion of the Examiner Training

    Apply for Qualification

    Certification candidates have four (4) years to complete all requirements, including a successful completion of the exam, and an approved application with the required work experience and education requirements.

    Renewal requirements

    An approved recertification application is required every 3 years. The work experience requirement for renewals for all certifications is one and half (1.5) years for the most recent three (3) year period. Additionally, some certifications have other requirements related to responsibility in charge.

    As you prepare for renewal, please visit My Certification Portal to log and manage your work experience and Professional Development Hours (PDH's) needed. Your work experience and PDH's will be submitted as part of your renewal application but you can input PDH's at any time.     Certification holders are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee for renewal.

To avoid processing delays or forfeiture of fees, please ensure that the application is complete, meets all the requirements and payment has been received.
