Officer Qualifications

Qualifications of nominees for Officers and Directors of NACE

In addition to the qualifications for Officers and Directors, a copy of the latest list of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), as established by the Board of Directors for each position to be filled shall be provided to the Committee members, Chairs of the Area Boards of Trustees, Activity Committee Chairs, and Past Presidents Council at that time. Additionally, the KSAs shall be available for review by all NACE membership on the NACE website.

Vice President

  • Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed by all candidates such that the Nominating Committee can vet all candidates.
    • Candidates shall disclose any previous investigations of conflicts of interest and whether they have been substantiated or not.
  • No persons serving on the Association’s Nominating Committee shall be eligible for nomination to the offices of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, or Director until one (1) year has lapsed following the completion of their term.
  • Nominees for all offices shall demonstrate that they have the following:
    • Employer financial and time support for the required terms and employer permission to speak on behalf of NACE in a public forum, in the form of a written document signed by a representative of the company, other than the candidate, who is authorized to commit their organization and the individual.
    • If the candidate is either currently not employed or self-employed then the committee may accept a written document signed by the candidate.
    • The most recent list of Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s) as established by the NACE Board of Directors for the position being filled shall be used as criteria for selection. No one candidate is expected to have all KSA’s; however, the successful candidate should have the maximum number of KSA’s possible. Example KSA’s are shown in Appendix B, however, the most recent KSA’s shall be used for selection.
    • Current membership in the Association for at least the last five (5) consecutive years.
    • Be willing to submit to background checks.
  • In addition to the criteria listed above, a nominee being considered for Vice President shall meet the following:
    • Willing to serve one (1) year as an ex-officio member of the Finance Committee and Policy Committee before assuming office.
    • One of the following criteria shall also be met:
      • Previously served a full term on the Board, or
      • Previously served a full term as chair of a NACE International Area, or
      • Previously served a full term as chair of any one of the designated NACE committees such as Policy, Finance, any Activity Committee or an Administrative Committee

Nominate

Area Director

  • All nominees for each Area Director shall have had three (3) years’ experience, within the last seven (7) years, from an Area Board.
    • Willing to serve one (1) year as an ex-officio member of the Finance Committee and Policy Committee before assuming office.
    • All nominees for each Area Director must reside within the Area.
    • All nominees for each Area Directors shall have not served as a Board member for that same Area until at least one term has expired before the candidate is to fill the position.

Nominate

Activity Director
