Kat holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Houston, as well as Post Graduate studies on Polymer Chemistry at U of H. He is also a CIP Level 3 Certified Coatings Inspector, Certified Protective Coating Specialist and NACE PCS, S-CAT and MCT Instructor.
Kat has worked as a NACE volunteer since 1982 serving as Chair for TGs, STG 02 and STG 04, Technology Coordinator for C 1 and RPC Chair as well as numerous symposia and awarded the NACE Distinguished Service Award in 2013.
Kat has been a bench chemist, plant manager, coating inspector and technical support representative working from Africa to South America.
