Nomination procedures for Officers and Directors

The 2021 nomination cycle is open and available for nominations for positions on the NACE International Board of Directors.

The following positions are available: 

  • Vice President
  • Education Activities Director
  • European Area Director
  • Publications Activities Director
  • Western Area Director

Nominations are due by October 1, 2019

Officer roles and responsibilities

Vice President

The Vice President assists the President in the performance of office of President and acts for the President when the President is unable to serve. The Vice President also prepares for succession to the office of President.

Area Directors

The director is responsible for the proper governing of the Area in which they have been elected and is representative to the NACE Board of Directors.

Activities Directors

The director is responsible for the proper governing of the Activities Committee in which they have been elected and is representative to the NACE Board of Directors.

Who can make nominations?

  • Nominations for Vice President and Treasurer shall be accepted only from:
    • Activities Committees
    • Areas
    • Committees of the Board (i.e. Awards, Policy, Finance, etc.)
    • Member petitions signed by a minimum of thirty (30) NACE members in good standing, no more than five (5) of which are from the same company, specifying the office being sought (see below for self-nominations).

  • Nominations for Area and Activity Directors shall be accepted only from:
    • A vote of the appropriate Activities Committee
    • A vote of the appropriate Area’s Board of Trustees
    • A member petition signed by a minimum of thirty (30) NACE members in good standing, no more than five (5) of which are from the same company, specifying the specific office being sought (Area or Activities) (see below for self-nominations).

Self-nominations for Officers and Directors

Persons interested in nominating themselves for any position of NACE International Officers or Director, must carefully review 1) Qualifications for Officers and Directors; 2) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) for Officers and Directors; and the 3) Position Description for the position desired. Using the Nomination Form for the applicable position, complete the form in its entirety, sign it and using the Self-Nomination Petition Form, obtain thirty (30) signatures of NACE members in good standing, with no more than five (5) of which are from the same company. Instructions for Self-Nominations:

Complete the appropriate nomination form for the position you have interest in self-nomination.

Review the qualifications for the position you have interest in self-nomination.

Using the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) list, check the “Required Competencies” you demonstrate.

Use the Self-Nomination Petition Form to obtain thirty (30) signatures of NACE members in good standing (active membership), no more than five (5) from the same company.

Submit the 1) Nomination Form, 2) Corporate Support Letter, and 3) Self-Nomination Petition Form to nominations@nace.org by October 1, 2019.

Deadline for submission of nominations for Officers and Directors

The names and qualifications of nominees for the positions of Officers and Directors shall be submitted to the NACE International Chief Executive Officer at nominations@nace.org on the appropriate form by October 1, 2019. A Corporate Support Letter (to be placed on Corporate Letterhead) for approval of full corporate sponsorship of time and financial support during the candidacy term of the position shall accompany the nomination submission. This shall be approximately eighteen (18) months before the successful nominees fill the positions.
